About Us

Based out of Duluth, Minnesota, Death Valley Yacht Club is the creative collaboration of musicians Charlie Jacobs and Alex Oberton. The two-piece band’s signature sound features their intricate vocal harmonies sung over the interplay between their tightly-arranged acoustic guitars. Their original music takes inspiration from artists like The Beatles, Neil Young, Elliott Smith, and Jesse Welles. DVYC’s music brings to mind the high and lonesome essence of bluegrass and modern folk music, having been compared to classic and beloved acts such as Simon and Garfunkel, The Milk Carton Kids, and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Their debut album, Dead Flowers, was published to various streaming services in April 2025.
